"Scruff"

"Scruff" is a Medium Cream Multi-Generation Lab Backcross

He should mature to be smaller than a Labrador, thus a medium. This is because his dad Curly is an Australian Labradoodle with blends of miniature poodle in his family tree. Many of Scruff relatives are therapy dogs and one of his half brothers is a Hearing Dog so he should develop into a loving, calm family dog. We are delighted that Scruff got such a wonderful new home and that we can hear how he is doing.

.

Above is Scruff aged 6 weeks after his tattoo in the pen in our lounge. He is having a quick power nap. The black ink gets EVERYWHERE. See the black ink around his right ear.

Scruff was chosen by us for his coat and temparment, for his new owner whose husband Mark is allergic to dogs. So far, so good - which is fantastic. His owners wanted a low maintenance dog, not too big with a certain coat type to minimise the risk however preferred not to opt for the fleece/wool very dense curly coat due to the regular grooming required.

His new family simply adore him and his latest description was simply "so lovely"!. We are glad he is such a loved pet and that he hasnt caused an reaction.

"Scruff is great, a bit of a character and full of fun. We have just returned from holiday and he has really grown. Still biting playfully not aggressively but his teeth are sharp now so it hurts! Goes on his walk and sits at the roadside. Responds to sit and lay down and stay. His coat is getting thicker as you can see by the photo's and he pretty well behaved when we take him to other peoples houses. Hasn't been to toilet in the house for 3 weeks and lets us know when he wants to go outside. Has started puppy training and at first was abit wary of the other dogs but when we walk him he seems to have lost that fear and has gone the other way! Will keep you update".

"He really is settled. Eating everything we place in bowl at feeding times and has his milk before he goes to bed. Getting some character already so when outside things its great to run off with grass or leaves in his mouth. We discourage this and remove at once. Leaves are not off trees or plants that can cause possible danger as got information on these. He is actually going to the door when he wants to eliminate (no: 2's) and trying to get out as he knows where he has to go. Still some slip up's with weeing but it is early days and he still learning! "

"Likes carrotts as a treat and also flip flops, and anything he can chew! Starting to mouth but we yelp and say no as we dont want him to do this to the young children we have visiting. He really is lovely and fun but does give us the run around much to his delight!!! He manages to climb a couple of stairs but then falls off. He jumps over the door step to get in and out of garden and loves a couple of bamboo sticks as toys. I'll get you some pics of it. I'll keep you informed of all progress and if you ever down tis way pop in and see him. He looks bigger already"

"Hi Lisa, what a week! Found his teeth, found that giving us the run around is great fun. Loves Water, loves plants to dive into and really energetic. Still weeing in the house occasionally but always goes outside for the main one! Have enrolled him in puppy training class and the trainer visited home the other night and gave us some tips. She wanted to take him home. She said that he's completely bonkers (in a fun way) but very intelligent and if she could have a class of Labrodoodles she would as she has already trained some. He has 3 meals a day and the milk at bedtime. He really has settled and goes out in the car and we have taken to our family houses with safe gardens. He is going to be great fun! Look forward to hearing from you soon. Regards Mark

"Scruff is great! Woke at 12 and 05:15 and went outside to eliminate. Whines when left alone in his crate but we are gradually introducing him to that and making a big fuss when he out. He seems really contented and is playing with toys are chew toys. Starting to want to chew everything and follows us round like a shadow. Wants to be where we are and when sat and had dinner last night he came and slept by the table. I think he was tired after all the chasing/playing etc. Have enrolled him in obedience classes and booked into the vet"

" Scruff (still to be confirmed) was pretty good last night. Had a whinge for 20 mins when first put into crate, then 3 or 4 times during the night. Horrible but its got to be done. Never soiled his crate and took him outside at 06:00am and he did no's 1 & 2! Fed him breakie and he went again. Wee'd a couple of times round the house last night but I think that might have been the up-heavel but we trying to spot the signs when he wants to go. Really attacking his food and scoff's the lot very quickly. Seems happy as tail never stops wagging and we managed to get him to have a quiet moment last night where he just laid on the carpet. Sophie gets him all excited and he likes to pull her hair although we keep saying no. He seems pretty happy at present so hopefully he will adjust and be settled here. I'll keep you informed of all new developments and I am sure we will need some advise until we get him settled properly. "
