Introducing doodleDogs' Odie's page.

Odie is Toffee's and Ruby's and Colin's brother, he lives in Buckinghamshire with his new family. The updates from his family are below:

He is doing really well with his new family and growing at an alarming rate. He is very low shedding with very little coming off his coat.

His coat is still scruffy looking, but appears to be getting more shiny and wavy, especially around his neck and shoulders. His back and hind quarters still look quite wooly, and he has a sprinkling of white hairs on his chest and tummy - not a lot, but they really stand out against the darker hair!

He looks quite labrador-ish in build from side-on, but from the top looks long and thin - he just doesn't have the breadth or stockiness. And his paws just keep getting bigger and bigger!!

He doesn't eat as much as the Eukauba guide recommends (never has!), and is certainly not greedy - almost a bit fussy, preferring real-food scraps to dog food!. We feed him three times a day now, and quite often there is still food in his bowl hours later.  His real weakness is roast chicken - he can sniff it out from miles away!

Temperament-wise he is still a calm puppy. The kids always give him a treat when they come down in the morning, or come in from school and he gets out of his basket and walks over wagging his tail, but never gets over-excited. The most excited he gets is when meeting other dogs and then he keeps trying to jump up on them. Some adult dogs growl at him when he does this, so I'm hoping that he gets the message and learns good manners eventually. When meeting new people he is very friendly and waggly, and gets quite upset if people don't say hello to him when we're out (even giving a little bark at them), but he doesn't try to jump on them thankfully!. So I'm quite happy that he doesn't get too hyper with the children, especially now he's grown so much.

He is still very playful and mischevious, loves stealing the kids toys from the playroom (especially Barbies) and running off with them, but usually doesn't chew them - he justs wants a chase from the kids, or a treat as ransom!. His repertoire of tricks to date includes sit, down, stay, shake-paw and speak. He is very quick to learn what you want but has a bit of an attitude if its something he doesn't want to do. He WILL do it, but with a lot of grumbling!!  I'm currently trying to get him to do 'roll-over' on command, and he really moans and grumbles all the time - its like having another strong-minded child!. (Actually, the similarities between Odie and our son are remarkable!!)

We also discovered that Odie loves to swim when he decided to jump in a river on one of his walks (on a freezing cold day - it was a bit of a shock for him!). I had suspected that anyway, as he loved to go paddling in his water bowl from early on!

Odie goes to a puppy training training class and has fun with his litter brother who attends same class. They spend most of the time tussling with each other!! Odie adores it. He is a well loved  member of the family.
