Labradoodles come in 3 sizes (Standard, Medium and Miniature) and a variety of beautiful colours from cream through to gold and chocolate to a deep true red. Their coats vary depending on their parentage and generation, some are the scruffy cheeky hairy kind, whilst higher, multi-generation doodle's coats have evolved into a curly or silky wool or fleece. Typically the Labradoodle is kind, intuitive, devoted, good with children and exceptionally quick and mischievous.

Allergy/ Asthma - We have had pups adopted into homes with family members with various allergies, asthma and dog reactions. HOWEVER it is important that you understand that all labradoodles are NOT necessarily non-shedding or even low shedding. You can still be allergic or have a reaction to Labradoodles. It could be from the animal's hair, skin, spit or dander. You need to seek medical advice before contact with a dog if you are concerned about a possible adverse reaction particulary for children. We NEVER sell a puppy as hypo-allergic or non-shedding as we cannot guarantee this.

Terminology.

The first Labrador/Poodle cross is referred to as "F1" (First Generation). Each Labradoodle x Labradoodle increases the generation of the offspring so the term would be F2, F3, F4 F5, F6, F7, F8.......and so-on and so-on until it reached pure status. The term "backcross" is used if a Labradoodle is crossed back to a Poodle or Labrador. This is often indicated by the generation followed by a "B". Backcrossing is used to change or correct a coat type usually.

This seems straight forward, however it is not. Some breeders work out generations using different methods - some add the parent generations together (!!), others add a generation to the highest generation parent (!!). However the internationally accepted method is to add one generation each time to the LOWEST generation parent.

Example - a puppy from a F4 mum and a F1 dad would be F2, NOT a F5!

Temparament

Summer at Paradise Labradoodles sums up the Australian Labradoodle perfectly when she says on her site:

"Imagine a dog that will immediately sit at your feet when you stop moving, accepting your loving attention yet not demanding it in an obnoxious manner! Your labradoodle will gladly follow you from room to room, finding a spot to rest close to you, while not imposing on your personal space. And best of all, imagine a dog who will gaze lovingly into your eyes, with understanding and comprehension...

And you will be imagining a labradoodle!"
