Introducing Juno - click here to return to the main chocolate scruffy page

Hello Lisa Just a quick 7 month update on our sweet natured Juno.  As you can see she's getting scruffier by the week and from your website photos, looks rather like Colin, even down to the lighter shade of head to body colour!  Juno now sleeps in a new bed which she loves and collects all her best things in there like toys, bowl, bits of precious chewed up stuff.  She's doing really well and pretty much only chews her toys now, although the kids shoes still end up the worst for wear, especially the laces. She has a variety if favourite places to lay around the house like the landing at the top of the stairs until everyone is safely down in the morning and also under the piano.  If you mislay anything there are 3 main places to look!!  We have started puppy training classes and she's enjoying that - she seems to excel generally in learning new things, particularly if there's a yummy treat at the end.  She hasn't quite got to grips with swimming yet but is very confident on the beach and very gentle yet playful with other dogs.  She's recalling beautifully now and enjoys a few different people walking her.  Her best friend is Moses (a chocolate labrador across the road) who takes her out sometimes. He's incredibly tolerant, sitting quietly while she bites his toys, licks him and nibbles, jumping all over excitedly.  He looks like a great big passive and protective canine uncle that could easily splat her with one paw if he wanted to!  We met a 1 year old black labradoodle in the park the other day and got some idea of her potential size.   Juno gets lots of variety in her day, she comes on the school run in the car, goes on the bus and train and comes to work with me and lays asleep in meetings - after introducing herself to everyone of course.  The only real hazard to be aware of is her tail, which is lethal as it bashes and crashes everything in it's wagging vicinity.  She's always so pleased to see everyone that it pings off the radiators,  knocks glasses off low tables and smacks into your legs really quite hard!  Anyway, as you can tell, life with Juno in it has enriched the family, everyone loves her.  We'll check back in a month or so.
Hello Lisa We thought it was a good time to send you a couple of snaps and update you on Juno's progress.  Basically, she's an absolute sweetheart and the whole family is in love with her!  She's beginning to understand some basic commands and will sit, give you her paw and lay down.  At a push she'll 'roll over and die for the queen' a trick our friends taught her!  We're pretty sure she understands a lot more than she's letting on as she is very cheeky and at times wilful - particularly when you try to get her off the sofa!  My next job is to get along to training with her - mostly for me I think.  Growing wise she has suddenly got rather huge, with long legs and massive paws!  We're also finding that her coat is changing, her head's a different colour to the rest of her at the moment and she's also getting covered in white hairs!  We think she'll be a salt 'n' pepper dog.  She's going grey at a quicker rate than me - which is saying something after all our building work (how's your's going)! Juno loves her crate/bedroom and trots in to go to bed.  We've had a new dog flap put into the wall in the extension, but it's looking suspiciously small....   She loves to go up to the children's rooms and take a toy then bring it down to the lounge to play - if the kids don't know where anything is, they just look there.  The whole family's shoes are in constant jeopady and finding a pair is sometimes a trial - my slippers have suffered terribly and may not be salvagable soon.  our son, (9 yrs) keeps kneeling on the floor with Juno and she thinks he's another puppy up for a game.  He's the member of the family with the most tooth holes in his clothes. our daughter (12) takes her for lots of walks and is very organised with poo bags and treats.  our son (7) you can see in the photo I've sent - in these snaps she was helping out with the gardening.....mmmm....more like running off with the tools, sitting on the bag of compost and chewing the plastic pots!! Juno loves watching the seagulls but unfortunately still remains under the illusion she could possibly catch one.  She's extremely sociable with humans and dogs alike, which is just as well because we can't actually go anywhere at all without having to stop and speak to people who have also instantly fallen in love with her and want a stroke and a lick.  She loves comapny and always wants to be at our feet at the computer, reading, eating, watching TV you name it.  The other day I did the tiling and she got covered in grout which I then had to brush out!!  She is desperately wanting to be sociable with our cat, Shirley, but Shirl's not having any of it and and is herself most anti-social so generally hisses and takes fiercesome swipes at Juno from her, normally, higher vantage point.  Juno is never put off from making friends with her though (another puppy for play?) and continues to woof, paws down and bottom/tail up despite to obvious attempts to put her off. Juno spends most time with me because I work from home etc. She jumps in the car and collects the children from school and comes to my office and so on.  Also Cath and I love to wander to Hove lawns and walk along by the sea and get a coffee.  She's still not totally sure of the actual sea but we're taking that slowly - it must seem like a huge noisy frothing thing at the moment, so, along with buses, umbrellas, vans, statues and red post boxes she's a tiny bit fearful just now.  However, against all the odds, she is fine about the weekly fireworks that are set off on the pier every Saturday night and skips along quite happily while they are going off all over the place.  OK that's the low-down in the household. Hope all's well with you best wishes
