"Fred"
Just home - first update :
"Fred is even more gorgeous than I expected, I love him. He's settled in so well, as you can see below"

Fred is a medium black Labradoodle - he has a Labrador mum and Curly, an imported Australian Multi-Gen dad. He has a lovely doodle face, very expressionate like his dad.

Dear Lisa, just to let you know that Fred is keeping well, and is maturing into a grand dog, (21 months old now). He's really friendly with everybody he meets. Adores children, never afraid to meet and greet other dogs, and wouldn't dream of fighting with any, in fact if another dog growled, he'd just walk on and ignore it.
He is always discretely on the scene whatever I'm doing, helps with digging in the garden, though he prefers to dig the lawn rather than the soil! Enjoys a good vac round, and although he and I have to fight to control the vac tube, I haven't the heart to ban him from helping as he enjoys it so much! His most pressing mission in life is to catch a cat or squirrel, but he's not had much luck as yet, though it's not for lack in trying. He does chase sheep if he gets a chance, but I blow a really loud whistle and he soon comes back to see what the heck the terrible noise is all about. ! Hope you are all doing well, best wishes from "

Hello Lisa, had to send these pathetic pictures of Fred giving his paw. You can't see me offering him goodies! He looks so pathetic I think I could make a living begging in our town!! He is fine, only problem is, he's looking for any bit of wet he can find and rolls and lays in the dregs of puddles and mud or slurry in fields! It must be this hot weather getting to him I guess. He's had three hosepipe showers this week. Apart from that he's well loved by all who know him. Hope all is well with you, love " |

"well Fred is one year old next week, and has been to school today! The children had been talking about breeds of dog and Fred went to show what a Labradoodle looks like. You can see what a sweet boy he is, his nature is so placid that I have to watch the grandchildren with him for fear they would hurt him, not the other way round, he never retaliates, so I watch for his safety! He is such a lovable, good natured dog. He goes with a dog walker to give me a break sometimes and he is amazed how well behaved Fred is. He also went for a good spruce up at the local doggie beauty parlour the other week and they said he let them do anything, this was his first visit and the lady said she'd have thought he goes daily he was that good. Fred still has lots of mischief but has a fabulous personailty, I consider myself lucky to have him as my boy. Hope you are all well, love from" |

"went camping last weekend, for the first time ever! Fred loved the gipsy lifestyle, I'm not so sure but we had fun and laughed a lot. He is a loveable rogue as you can see. He loves the grandchildren and they adore him" |
Previous updates : "Fred's coat seems to not shed as much as our previous dogs, but he has been losing a lot of his puppy fur. This seems to have slowed down now that his adult coat is growing. Not had his fur trimmed as yet, so it might be slow growing. Also pleased to report that one grandchild who has very bad eczema doesn't show any allergy to Fred, and one grandchild who has bad hay fever just has to be careful not to rub her eyes after playing round Fred, as they got red and swollen, but if she washes her hands after playing then she is fine. Also my daughter who has suffered from allergies to animals all her life, had Fred to stay one night last week. He sleeps at the bottom of the bed (despite lectures from my son!) on his cover, and she says she didn't have any allergic reaction to him at all. She did take tablets when Fred first came home, but doesn't now, and having slept with him is a good test. So we are very pleased with his coat I guess he'll moult twice a year, though only time will tell. Glad he's looking like his Dad, and Colin , although they are all gorgeous, toffee is a beauty too."

"Fred also has silver strands amongst his black adult fur, and also has faded bits around his head and legs. My daughter and I have assembled a sandpit for him (difficult with our diy skills, thank goodness for no more nails!) I read that dogs like to dig for their toys, however, when Fred had a go, he dug for England, toys and sand etc., were flying everywhere, I think he's aiming for Australia. He is full of mischief, sometimes you can see his mind and eyes working, to scan for some prank to work on."

"He loves to meet people and dogs, and is friendly to all we meet. He amazes me though, when I call him back to me he always comes, rarely turns a deaf ear. He does love to be chased though, which when he's waving a pair of my knickers out of the washbasket can be embarassing! At the end of the day, or when he's tired he is very loving and cuddly. He'd melt the heart of a snowman. regards to you all." |

"Fred's coat is maturing now and he sheds very little, has got a brownish muzzle and faded bits on his legs and silver threads along his back. His fur is wavy rather than curly, and we think he looks gorgeous, even though someone asked me if he was a waife from RSPCA the other day! One of my granddaughters stroked a golden retreiver when we were out recently and soon her eyes were red and streaming, something that never happens when she is with our Fred, so he is definitely hypo-allergenic.
He is full of energy and mischief. For the most part he is a good dog and well loved by all the family. I leave him occassionally for no longer than two to three hours max, and he doesn't do any damage even though he has free run of the house. I do leave him with his doggie puzzles and dominos to keep him amused, which I suppose must help.!
He loves swimming or rolling in smelly muddy places! He is chasing cattle and sheep and horses just now, so has to go on his lead when we see livestock, maybe it's just a phase as he used to be good around them when he was younger. We are trying clicker training just now, and he learned very quickly that a click or two meant a treat. He has an enormous appetite, sometimes for awful things, like sheep or cow manure, in fact any old extrement he manages to get a hold of!
Fred comes with me when I go with my local hospice walking group, and gets lots of attention and compliments even though he shakes mud on us all and did pinch and eat one ladies slimming meal bar when we stopped for a tea break! Although he's a bit of a handful at times we all think he will grow into a lovely gentleman in time"
