Who are we? - We are simply a family who love dogs (and our cat Jesse-Jake). We are just South of Cardiff off the M4 thus 3 hours from London or roughly 2 hours from Birmingham. doodleDogs is a company because we prefer to keep doggy money separate to our own income, and declare income to the Inland Revenue (this is a requirement for all breeders even for one litter) - corporation tax is simply more tax efficient than self assessment. We are however 100% family breeders not a corporation (!!) with great emphasis on the health, temparament and wellbeing of our puppies. We use recycled materials for bedding and our waste complies with clinical disposal rules - we try and minimise environmental impact from our breeding.
We run a deposit system for puppies so we always have the security of knowing where puppies are being rehomed. We find this to be a better system than running an endless list. If you are not yet ready to commit then we run a non-deposit list as well. We limit reservations to a reasonable number then once puppies arrive we contact non-reservation names if we have availability, once we know the number of puppies.
We speak to every family considering a labradoodle and request that you complete a form asking about your home/work hours and family. Our breeding principles are explained in the page on Breeding and Puppies. For genetic diversity we also introduce the very best health/temparament tested British Labrador and Poodle lines into our doodles however our focus is on authentic AUSTRALIAN LABRADOODLES not British lines. We do not breed any pedigree dogs - only poodle crosses. We provide information on goldendoodles, cockapoos, cairndoodles and we are trying to find breeders of other doodles.
- We are NOT a "puppy farm" - puppies are raised inside our house, as part of the family, socialised with 2 children, cat and adults.
- In addition to socialisation, our pups receive car and crate training.
- We DO NOT represent other breeders or "farmers".
- We do NOT produce excessive litters from our pets.
- We do NOT take endless people onto a list thus disappointing the majority of families.
- We do NOT breed every season - this is not permitted under uk breeding rules.
- We do NOT allow people to breed from our pups unless we have expressly agreed.
- We do NOT sell to pet shops or third parties.
- We do NOT allow unsuitable families to adopt our pups.

This is Lisa who will answer your e-mails and speak to you. She trained as a Solicitor in the nineties with a top UK firm, was in private practice until 2002. She is now a Non-Practising Solicitor, instead working in law part time. doodleDogs is her hobby and as such most telephone calls are made in the evening, after work is completed and children are settled.
Inital e-mail contact is preferred (ukdoodles@aol.com) - our telephone number is 02920 515171. Please do not call at meal times! The best times are 1-3 pm and after 8pm. Ideally tuesday and thursday 8-10pm are best.

We are trying to look forward 5-10 years in the future and ensure that there is sufficient diversity in our gene pool to sustain the Labradoodle's health, vigour and heritage. This prompted the decision to import carefully selected dogs to be the backbone of our program. We choose the lines very carefully looking at temperament before looks, preferring lines with dogs being placed into children's assistance programs. We also required all lines to show health testing including hip scoring and elbows. We are very proud to have dogs from the finest Australian lines and hope to continue our mission to bring Australian Multi-Gen Labradoodles into the UK with hopefully 2 more Australian dogs arriving next year, to give us a more diverse genetic foundation. We support animal and children's charities and 2 doodleDogs pups have been to Hearing Dogs training - see Benji and Bobby. We also have many pups and dogs in therapy and assistance roles.
Above are Labradoodles in our front room. We have a large over 6 foot custom-made puppypen with a special non-slip base (to avoid possible hip/joint damage from walking on slippery floors/lino). We use disposable bedding from recycled materials, either dust-extracted recycled cardboard or the recycled leftover corners from the manufacture of round teabags. Both are super absorbant and cosywarm. Our waste is dealt with responsibly and is incinerated by contractors under the clinical waste rules which govern dog breeding, rather than going to landfill.
